STORE SPOTLIGHT #1 : SCHUH

Welcome to the first ever STORE SPOTLIGHT- a monthly blog feature showcasing the best fashion & beauty retailers at Merry Hill shopping centre.

This month we are covering Schuh, which has been supplying Merry Hill shoppers with brand new kicks for just over a decade. Yep, it's fair to say it's a key retailer within the mall so it's about time we gave them a big ol' shout out and show you what we love most about Schuh!
What Schuh is best known for supplying us with the best footwear brands on the market. Everything from classic boots by Dr. Martens and Timberland to trendy canvas lace ups from Converse or Rocket Dog; whatever cult footwear brand you're after- Schuh probably stock it!

The first brand to catch our eye was Dr. Martens. We loved these statement DM boots- a great choice for quirky girls who love their florals! And the super tough Air Wair soles will mean they will last you for decades to come- you could literally still be rocking out in DM's as an OAP.

Ah yes, the good old Chuck Taylor stand. Black, white, yellow, peach, tie-dye...take your pick. We both own a pair of the iconic canvas sneakers and they are such a casual weekend wardrobe staple, no matter what age or personal style. And how cute are the baby Converse?! Make way for the super stylish infant- they can't walk yet but they're still going to rock a pair of All-Stars.

If plain Converse aren't really your style, why not add a bit of embellishment to your kicks with these snazzy special editions?

There were a huge range of trainers on offer but we decided to feature the Nike Roche Runs- aka. the trainer of the moment. This trendy new design from Nike has proved really popular with fashion bloggers, often being worn with a simple pair of skinny jeans, plain t-shirt and leather jacket for subtle hint to the sports luxe trend which can be worn by the everyday girl.

As a self-confessed Birken-head, Daisy was drawn to the Birkenstock stand straight away. Comfy, practical AND on trend- er, yes please. Like the Nike Roche's above, Birkenstocks have also seen a boom in popularity thanks to the fashion blogging community who have been wearing them with loose fitting shorts and button up shirts for a laid-back chic look.

Not forgetting the ladies-Schuh also stocks many female focused footwear brands too; Irregular Choice, Red or Dead and Mocks to name just a few. These pretty sequined quirky heels from Irregular choice are perfect for the Spring season and would great with a pastel tea-dress.

We also really liked the various Schuh lookbook images which were displayed in-store, proving that Schuh is committed to creating fashion conscious shoes and upping it's game as a leading footwear brand. It can also help to inspire you in terms of styling- especially with the more fashion forward style of shoes available.
Here's a better picture of the cut-out boots which Khyati was eyeing up..great for toughening up a floral playsuit or just becoming the summer alternative to your trusty winter ankle boots.

Alongside it's wide variety of popular brands, Schuh also has it's own in-house brand which quite rightly deserves a mention too. First up, these very glamorous two-strap metal sandals. Two strap sandals have been THE heel of choice for nights out over the last couple of seasons and the latest upgrade on the simple style is the addition of two sleek metal straps which create a much more high-end design.

Have we found the perfect black ankle boot? We think so. Okay so Winter is still three seasons away but you could buy them and save them until then...right?

Metallic flats are one of the more novelty footwear trends for S/S- but one worth pursuing for hardcore shoe addicts or fashion magpies. The flatforms are probably best left for the bright young things- who don't remember the rise of the platform trainer the first time around!
